Whelp Jill is actually being more forthcoming than I would have expected. Though I suppose it would be better to just to tell Trilby rather than wait for what seems to be the most competent person here eventually figure this out.

And Jill continues to be utterly cute in her vulnerability. The way she keeps crossing her arms there does not hurt either.

Know I have harped on this before, but again when they were giving haircuts and Idents, what idiot failed to make a urgent note that she already had one? Would love to see Trilby rant on this point come to think of it.

This is an interesting twist. So often people will try to hide these kinds of things. I wonder if Jill simply lacks those defense mechanisms. It's a nice change from the classical trope. She doesn't even know trilby enough to trust her.

So looking at it again, yeah Trilby says the process of adding those Idents are automated, so seems someone didn't personally apply the tattoo to her and the others. Still, would have thought Jill having it would have raised some kind of flag.

That would only happen if the programming allowed for the circumstances. Based on what we saw with Milo, "catch and release" is not really in play here, so in all probability "if ident tracker is already present" is not a condition in the coding. I expect the basic code would have ended up being an if/else statement that could essentially be expressed thusly:

If (NoIdentTattoo){
//Activate program which applies Identification Tattoo
//Repeat program
}

Else {
//Continue with Processing
//End program
}

(My apologies to the coders on the forms, I haven't coded in years and I'm just trying to convey the basic concept)

Under most processing circumstances, that would work adequately. Someone comes in, they get scanned. Scan reveals no tattoo, tattoo is applied. They get scanned again. Tattoo is found, person is pushed to the next part of processing and the program ends. In the case of Jill, the program simply jumps to the else statement.

Jill in the 5th panel is adorable.

More than likely it's because this is the closest thing she has to getting an actual answer about her past out of this place at the moment. She's can basically only go on a gut feeling because that's the biggest lead she has at the moment. Plus while they haven't been together for very long, she has gotten small signs that Trilby might not sell her out.

You know; I was originally going to criticize the humans for their lack of security measures for their machines to determine whether a test subject already had a tattoo; however, I’m kind of under the impression that people tend not to leave here alive when they’re captured. Case in point…Milo.

But on a more serious note, I don’t know it’s intentional or not, but I swear Trilby is radiating the whole Dr. Eggman vibe on me, especially in Panel 4 with that background complimenting those glasses and stance.

I didn't really notice it myself until the page was colored in, but yeah. Maybe there's something about having giant, perfectly round glasses that makes a person angry.

:amazeAlexW: :What big round eyeglasses you have, lady!

Trilby: All the better to frame the angry eyeballs which glare at you with the burning rage of 1000 suns, my dear. >:(
