Something tells me this issues is going to be Cruel and Unusual. XD
My bad, but I couldn’t resist that. But in all due seriousness, I’m actually surprised that his hair and face for that matter were enacted. Surely a bullet or something would’ve hit his head. Granted that the machines were probably programed with some restraints, it still makes for a semi-realistic fight.
To be fair for Fairbrooks, and from what we’ve seen thus far, he always does seem to look a little peeved about everything…and I can see why in the next page here. I had no idea that Vul’s were that discriminated against. Seriously, are humans simply afraid of them because the look different, or do their animal counterparts give them some type of edge over humans in physical and intellectual combat? I have to say that I’m so digging Panel 3 on Page 4 as it does kind of give the whole underwater sea vibe look. Also, I don’t know if this was intentionally or not, but I’m beginning to suspect that Meier’s spirit animal is some sort of aquatic creature, specifically trout or a freaking shark.
Hold the phone! (Get it…because that teleporter is shaped like a phone). I’m slightly confused. Did he like teleport a shark and his human handler or something?
