Wow. I used to write a lot of in-depth profiles for my super-hero and villain characters in the old City of Heroes/Villains MMORPG. Woulda been cool if this happened to me on the day they shut that game down. I was online with my favorite character right up til they pulled the plug. Altho, if it had happened, I likely wouldn't have met my wife. So, it's cool in theory, not so much if it were reality.

I'm kinda wondering what will happen if they find the space dudes body and save him.

Hrm... It seem that the more in-depth the character was, the less of the creator remains.
Yeah, that is interesting if true. Still there are some pretty important questions that remain, such as how are his real memories being suppressed and how did it make these false created memories feel so real? I would have to go back and check but I thought it was just a pretty advanced (by our standards) VR helmet he put on to play this game. I get it perhaps having features to help the experience feel more real, but to affect a user's brain to that degree? Well I just hope that IRL when we get that far along with our tech that there are some pretty good protections built into such devices, required by law to be there, that could limit or prevent such situations as what we have here.
