The elf asking her to turn the simulation off is rather concerning. Feel like someone needs to have a word with Blue about this.
Aye, especially if the AI programming for these virtual worlds is anywhere close to what the actual robot girls have. Virtual beings that are self aware and have human level intelligence being treated as nothing more than playthings? That would come very close to things that are morally and socially taboo and actually illegal IRL when done to real humans! How to treat AIs is an actual issue I hope we figure out IRL before we reach a point like this in the comic. Now to fair to Blue, I don't think she's doing this out of any sadistic or mean tendencies, I just don't think she's fully thought through what she is doing. Hopefully after a little talk with Shiden and maybe a couple of the other robot girls she'll amend the programming to give her elves more freedom to do other things and act independently when she's not there.

I think we're missing the forest for the trees with regards to how disturbing that request is.

The elves just demonstrated a degree of self-awareness. Forget Blue for a minute and ask one question: How probable is it that such self-awareness is unique to the characters in Blue's program? Now for your consideration, what exactly do we know happens in other programs? Suddenly the pathfinder expedition feels a lot darker.

Now that you bring that up, yes it does! When Shiden is done with Serena here he may very well want to set aside some time to do a very thorough analysis of just what the girls have created here with their VR experiments.
