Well from a pragmatic standpoint it would probably be best to say "mostly the staff" to make her lose interest. And it's not a wrong answer either. Phil has improved as a fighter, but he's still nowhere near most of the girls' levels. Lilith had the advantage in speed, strength, skill, and experience, and she read his attack. Phil beat her because her ignorance of the staff's properties made her try and block the attack instead of dodging it, and that was a critical error.
